As former teachers and cultural ambassadors, we’re eager to work with local schools, libraries, and other organizations to continue fostering Japan-America relations through educational events in the community.
Past Events
Japanese Arts & Crafts
For several years, we’ve collaborated with JASH to host a Nengajo event where participants learn a little Japanese calligraphy to make their own New Year’s postcard while learning about this Japanese custom. Other similar events we’ve arranged have included crafts such as origami, ikebana, and daruma dolls.

info Sessions & Panels
Our JET Alumni have regularly contributed to a range of informative sessions on both the JET Program and on various Japan-centered topics, often in close collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston. The formats of these have ranged from booths at the Houston Japan Festival to school visits to formal lectures and presentations.
Fundraisers for Charitable causes
Texoma JET Alumni raised money to specifically assist Alumni affected by Hurricane Harvey. We also helped raise money for earthquake relief in Japan after the Great Tohoku Earthquake of 2011. In years past, we have also prepared and donated a small gift bag for one category of the Texas Japanese Speech Contest.

Sister City Assistance
JETAA Texoma has helped TX & OK-based sister cities in their communication and planning with visiting Japanese delegations.
